If u have like a light face then you will need a color in yoiur hair that wil mostly match iwth your face n personality. For example you may choose a brown color and blonde highlights that would look very nice to a person who has a ligh color. For light color faces you can get dark colors and would look more lighter that you are. IF your a dark color then yo9u might be able to choose a color light too If you were to choose a color dark your are going to look dadrker that you already are.

You're right, light colors do look nicer in people that have a light tone of skin. In a lot of people dark hair looks not nice, and it makes you look not nice too. It's better if you choose a light color for your hair if you're light skined and a dark color for your hair if your dark skined. But this is not always true, you can choose light or dark and you can still look good(:
